Clinics

Who We Are

Geriatric Medicine Clinics are offered by physicians within the division of Geriatric Medicine, Queen’s University.  Physicians in training and/or medical students may be present during part of the clinic assessment process.  Other health professionals (SW, PT, OT, RN) may participate as needed.

During the clinic the Physician will conduct a comprehensive history, and physical examination, including a functional and psycho-social review. This may include obtaining additional information from other medical assessments and family members if available. A typical clinic assessment takes at least one hour and will often require additional assessments including laboratory and radiographic tests.

The clinical findings and results of all assessments will be considered in the context of an older person with complex health problems and changes in functional abilities. A clinic letter will be sent to the Family Physician detailing the main clinical, functional and psycho-social issues which were identified. The need for further assessments and treatments including treatments within other parts of SGS will be noted.
